Our journey begins in Fátima, one of the most important religious destinations in the world. Visit the Sanctuary of Fátima, where the Virgin Mary appeared in 1917, and marvel at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the impressive Altar of the World and the Little Chapel of Apparitions. Feel the serene and devotional atmosphere of this sacred place as you learn about the history and traditions of Fátima.
We will then head to Batalha, where we will find the stunning Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent Gothic building is a masterpiece of Portuguese architecture, with elaborate details and an aura of grandeur. Admire the rich sculptures and stained glass windows and marvel at the Founder’s Chapel, an impressive example of Manueline art.
Continuing our journey, we will arrive in Alcobaça, a city with a fascinating past. Visit the imposing Alcobaça Abbey, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and delve into the history of the Cistercian monks who inhabited it. Explore the magnificent cloister, chapels and the tomb of Pedro and Inês de Castro, one of the most famous love stories in Portuguese history.
From Alcobaça we will head to the picturesque fishing village of Nazaré, known for its stunning beaches and maritime culture. Witness the impressive waves of Canhão da Nazaré, where fearless surfers challenge the limits of surfing. Stroll through the historic center, visit the Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo and enjoy a meal by the sea, tasting delicious fresh seafood.
Finally, we will arrive at the charming medieval village of Óbidos, surrounded by walls and cobbled streets. Get lost in the alleys, discover the local craft shops and taste the famous Ginjinha, a cherry liqueur typical of the region. Be sure to explore Óbidos Castle, a symbol of history and architecture, and enjoy the stunning views from the top of the wa
Religious capital of Portugal, due to its power and mystical atmosphere, it attracts millions of pilgrims each year. The main square, twice the size of St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, has capacity for 300,000 people.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima is a place of pilgrimage that celebrates the memory of the apparitions of Our Lady to the three shepherd children: Lúcia de Jesus, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. In the Sanctuary you can visit the Chapel of Apparitions and the Church of Santíssima Trindade.
About 2 km from Fátima, in a small village called ‘Aljustrel’, we can visit Casa da Família Marto and Casa de Lúcia.
This architectural wonder resulted from a promise made by King João I in gratitude for the victory at Aljubarrota, a battle fought on August 14, 1385, which guaranteed the throne and Portugal’s independence. It is one of the most beautiful works of Gothic and Manueline architecture. A national monument, it has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1983.
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Work on this 12th century monument began in 1178 and was completed around 100 years later. It is a notable example of Cistercian architecture, boasting the largest Early Gothic style church built in Portugal during the Middle Ages. Talking about the Alcobaça Monastery is also talking about the greatest love story in the History of Portugal, the tragic passion of D. Pedro and D. Inês de Castro, which is immortalized in that place.
Located on the central coast of Portugal, a land of legends and traditions, of sea and fishing, of simple and hospitable people, Nazaré still maintains the authenticity that inspired writers and dazzled artists. The most famous fishing village in Portugal has beaches that offer lovers of surfing, bodyboarding, Tow-In and SUP the ideal conditions and spots to practice these activities. In 2011, the World record for the biggest wave surfed was broken – a wave of around 30m, at ‘Canhão da Nazaré’, by Garrett McNamara.
Beautiful medieval village, famous beyond its landscape and history for the famous ‘Ginja’ liqueur. Here you can stroll through the narrow Portuguese cobbled streets, see the castle, taste the “ginjinha” and artistic chocolates, enjoy the flower-filled balconies, the sidewalk, the castle walls and the architecture of the single-story houses. It is the ideal destination for a romantic walk. Rich in historical tradition, Óbidos is one of Portugal’s main jewels.
