Discover the charm of Coimbra and Aveiro on an incredible day trip! Immerse yourself in these two stunning cities and immerse yourself in their history, culture and natural beauty.

We will begin our journey in Coimbra, home to one of the oldest universities in the world. You will be fascinated by the vibrant academic atmosphere as you stroll through the historic campus and have the possibility to visit the famous Joanina Library, a treasure trove full of rare books and majestic rooms.

We will then explore the old town of Coimbra, with its charming narrow streets, full of quaint cafes and traditional shops. You will have the opportunity (optional) to enjoy a delicious traditional lunch of “Leitão à Bairrada”, in Mealhada, after which we will continue our tour towards Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal”.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the colorful moliceiro boats, which sail through the city’s peaceful canals. Embark on a boat trip and be enchanted by the unique architecture of the Costa Nova houses, with their colorful stripes and golden sandy beach. You will also have the opportunity to taste the famous “ovos moles”, typical Aveiro sweets, which are a true local delicacy.

Enjoy a relaxing stroll through the historic center, admire the beautiful Art Nouveau buildings and discover the region’s marine traditions.

Coimbra

Known as the city of students, it offers centuries of culture and history. In Coimbra you will visit the country’s first university and the world-famous Joanina library, a baroque masterpiece built under the order of King D. João V, in the 18th century. It has copies of the rarest bibliographic collections from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Aveiro

Considered the Portuguese Venice, due to the large network of canals that cross the city. You will enjoy a ride on a typical local boat, called Moliceiro, along the city’s canals. Aveiro is rich in history and has a well-preserved legacy.

The Aveiro Salt Flats

Take a guided tour of the famous Salinas de Aveiro, where the so-called “white gold” is produced. A unique experience that will give you the opportunity to learn about the history, tools and ancient artisanal methods used in salt extraction and which are still present in Aveiro’s salt marshes today.

Vista Alegre factory and museum – Optional

In this museum you will have the opportunity to see how the best-known and most appreciated porcelain pieces in Portugal are created, as well as the first pieces designed by the brand.
