Portugal Here’s the reality after the recent storms 🇵🇹

Thinking about visiting Portugal?

There have been a few international news stories recently about storms in Portugal, and some travelers have been asking if it’s still a good time to visit.

I live in Lisbon and work as a private guide and driver, so I’m on the road across the country almost every week. I just wanted to share a real on-the-ground perspective.

The vast majority of places are completely fine and operating normally. Lisbon, Sintra, Porto, and the main wine regions are welcoming visitors as always. Restaurants, historic sites, viewpoints, and museums are all open.

In fact, this time of year can be one of the nicest moments to visit Portugal. The landscapes are very green after the rain, the light is beautiful, and it’s still before the big summer crowds arrive.

Over the last days I’ve been driving with guests through places like Sintra and along the Atlantic coast, and everything looks stunning. The vineyards in regions like the Douro are also starting to wake up for spring, which makes for incredible scenery.

Portugal is a small country but incredibly diverse: historic cities, dramatic coastline, medieval towns, and world-class wine regions all within a few hours’ drive.

If you’re planning a trip and want local insights about routes, day trips, or timing your visit, feel free to ask. I’m always happy to share advice from someone who spends most of the year showing travelers around the country.

Hope to see some of you here soon. Portugal is looking beautiful. 🇵🇹
